GOT QUESTIONS? WE'VE GOT ANSWERS.
GNARLY gravel wheels are built to suit modern gravel bikes with 12x100 front and 12x142 rear hub spacing. Select the correct freehub at checkout to match your drivetrain, whether that’s Shimano HG, SRAM XDR, or Microspline. If you’re unsure, we’ll help you get it right.
GNARLY gravel wheels are designed to carry speed over rough ground. It’s not just about wider rims, it’s how the whole system works together. The wider rim supports the tyre properly, while the low profile shape allows the wheel to absorb bumps instead of bouncing over them. That keeps the bike planted, rolling smoother, and holding speed when the road gets loose and unpredictable.
Bladed spokes play a big role here as well. They add lateral stiffness for better control, while allowing just enough compliance to smooth out rough surfaces and improve efficiency. Paired with our 102 Series high engagement hubs, you get instant, direct power when you need it.
Every wheel is hand-built in Australia by the Master Wheel Builders at Craftworx, ensuring everything is precisely tensioned and balanced for long-term performance.
Yes, and not because of aerodynamics. Speed on gravel comes from maintaining momentum. These wheels roll through rough sections instead of getting knocked around, which means less energy lost and more speed carried forward.
GNARLY gravel wheels make the bike feel smoother, faster, and more controlled. They take the edge off rough roads, hold speed more easily, and make the whole ride feel more connected. The result is a ride that’s more enjoyable, more engaging, and a lot more comfortable when things get rough. And yes, they are fast.
If you want a bike that rolls smoother, holds speed, and stays in control when things get loose, these wheels will make a real difference. They smooth out rough trails, carry speed where others slow down, and let you push harder without getting beaten up. If that’s how you like to ride, you’re in the right place.
These wheels are designed around modern gravel tyres, typically in the 40mm to 55mm range depending on the rim model. The wider rim supports the tyre properly, improving grip, stability, and control when the trail gets loose or uneven.
Most riders run between 25 and 40 PSI, depending on rider weight, terrain, and tyre volume. Start around 30 PSI in the front and 35 PSI in the rear, then fine-tune from there in small 2 PSI adjustments. Tyre pressure changes everything. Get it right and the bike grips harder, tracks cleaner, and carries speed across rough terrain instead of fighting it.
Yes, all GNARLY gravel wheels come pre-taped and ready for tubeless setup. Running tubeless lets you drop tyre pressure safely, improving grip, smoothing out rough trails, and dramatically reducing the chance of punctures.
GNARLY alloy gravel wheels can be run with tubes or tubeless setups. GNARLY carbon wheels are designed specifically for tubeless use and should not be run with tubes.
Yes, for the highest level of protection and performance, we recommend using our "system compatible" light weight Gnarly Gravel Inserts. On rough gravel, inserts add another layer of protection and stability, letting you push harder and run lower pressures with more confidence.
Yes, all GNARLY wheels are backed by warranty and local support. If something goes wrong, we’ll get it sorted.
